Rāvan was mad & hissed like a serpent, when he heard
about death of Dhumraksha. With long burning sighs, he commanded mighty demon
Vajradāmstra-O warrior! Go ahead, lead the army & slay Rām, Sugriva &
others. So be it, said the demon & departed with many divisions of army
surrounding him comprising of elephants, horses, mules, camels & chariots
Adorned with golden bracelets & a diadem,
Vajradāmstra well covered with armor set out wielding a bow. Infantry of every
kind issued forth, furnished with weapons such as clubs, javelins, harpoons,
bows, spears, swords, maces & sharp axes. All demons in their resplendent
uniforms, mounted on elephants resembled moving mountains. They emerged from
southern gate where General Angad was stationed
Awful omens foretold destruction of demons, but
they still shored up courage & fond of battle set out for combat.
Tumultuous battle ensued between Vānaras & demons, desiring each other
annihilation. They attacked each other and extremely terrible noise, breaking
the hearts, was heard from the trees, rocks & weapons
Vajrā moved in the battlefield like Yama, god of
death, wielding a noose in his hand. He killed scores of Vānaras which invited
the wrath of Angad, who possessed twice with anger killed many demons as well.
Angad with his raging red eyes lifted a tree & killed troop of demons,
shattering their heads, who fell like chopped trees. Streams of blood flowed
everywhere
Seeing devastation of his army by Angad, Vajrā
stretched his terrific bow & assailed enemy battalions with flood of
arrows. Mighty Vānaras did not retreat from the onslaught but killed demons
with ferocity. Thereafter, under the eyes of Vajrā, all his army was killed or
broken up. He renewed his assault & shot mighty arrows terrifying Vānaras,
who then took refuge of Angad
The two warriors then fought with each other
like a lion & an elephant. Vajrā knocked Angad at his vital organs with
arrows spewing fire. Angad with all his limbs drenched in blood, threw a tree
on Vajrā, who shredded it with arrows. Angad then seized a huge rock &
crushed Vajrā’s chariot & horses. With another huge rock, he hit Vajrā’s
head, who began to vomit blood & fainted, but regaining consciousness,
Vajrā hit Angad on his chest with his mace. After a fierce fight with both
warriors exhausted, Angad rose like serpent struck with a stick & assaulted
Vajrā’s head with a sharp sword. He fell, spliced into two pieces
Even extreme reversals if taken in the proper
spirit will help us fulfill our mission in life. For example, Law of gravity is
only in effect in the Earth’s sphere and not beyond it. Similarly, laws of
material nature act only in material consciousness not in spiritual
consciousness. A person finds that extra iota of energy to fulfill higher
spiritual purpose otherwise with material consciousness the energy one has is
also sapped at crucial point
The Supreme Lord is the source of all, we just
need to connect with him.
