Maharishi Dadhichi and his son Pipplad
Maharishi Dadhichi and his
son Pipplad
When the body of Maharishi Dadhichi was being cremated in the crematorium, his wife could not bear the separation of her husband and she herself sat in the pyre by keeping a 3-year-old boy in the cot of a huge peepal tree located nearby. In this way Maharishi Dadhichi and his wife were sacrificed, but the child kept in Peepal's pot started crying out of hunger and thirst. When nothing was found, he grew up after eating the laps (fruits) of Peepal that fell in the pot. Later, by eating peepal leaves and fruits, the child's life was safe.
One
day Devarshi Narada passed by. Narada, seeing the child in Peepal's kotor,
asked his introduction-
Narad
-
boy who are you?
Boy: That's what I want
to know too.
Narada
-
Who is your father?
Boy : That's what I want to know.
Then Narada looked intently. Narada was surprised and told that O child! You are the son of the great donor Maharishi Dadhichi. It was only by making a thunderbolt out of your father's ashes that the gods had conquered the demons. Narad told that your father Dadhichi had died only at the age of 31.
Boy - What was the reason
for my father's premature death?
Narad
-
Your father had Mahadasha of Shani Dev.
Boy: What was the reason
for the misfortune that came upon me?
Narada - Mahadasha of Shani Dev.
After telling this, Devarshi Narada named the child who lived by eating peepal leaves and lap and initiated him.
After Narada's departure, the child Pipplad pleased Brahma by doing severe penance as told by Narada. When Brahma ji asked the child Pipplad to ask for a boon, Pipplad asked for the power to burn any object with his own eyes. Started burning. Shani Dev started burning in the body. There was an uproar in the universe. All the gods failed to protect the son of Sun, Shani. Surya also saw his son burning in front of his eyes and started pleading with Brahma to save him. Finally Brahma himself appeared in front of Pipplad and talked about leaving Shani Dev but Pippalad was not ready. Brahma ji gave two years instead of one. Told to ask Then Pipplad was happy and asked for the following two boons-
1- There will be no place of Shani in the horoscope of any child from birth to 5 years. So that no other child becomes orphan like me.
2- Peepal tree has given refuge to me orphan. Therefore, the person who offers water to the Peepal tree before sunrise will not be affected by the Mahadasha of Saturn.
Brahma ji gave a boon saying 'Tathastu'. Then Pipplad freed the burning Shani by hitting him at his feet with his brahmdand. Due to which the feet of Shani Dev were damaged and he was not able to walk as fast as before. Therefore, since then Shani "Shaniah Charati Ya: Shanaishcharah" means the one who walks slowly is called Shanaishchar, and Shani has a black body due to burning in the fire. The organs were fractured.
At present, this is the religious purpose of
worshiping the black idol of Shani and the Peepal tree. Later on, Pipplad
composed Prasna Upanishad, which is still a great storehouse of knowledge. Jai
Shri Krishna.
