Is it a sin to be a man in India?
Is it a sin to be a man in India?
Suicide of Amit Kumar who was working for United
Health Group is nothing new. In 2018, a 35 years old man called Swaroop Raj,
who was working as Vice President with Genpact committed suicide because there
was an alleged complaint of sexual harassment against him from two female
employees. In his suicide letter he just asked his wife to believe in him and
that he was innocent.
In 2015, a girl called Jasleen Kaur posted
photos of Sarvjeet Singh alleging that Singh had sexually harassed her. The
post went viral on social media in India, garnering widespread attention.
National celebrities and politicians provided Kaur with widespread support for
raising her voice against eve-teasing and sexual harassment on social media. Delhi
CM Arvind Kejriwal personally went to meet the woman. What happened next was
nothing less than shocking. Saravjeet Singh was terminated from his job. He was
taken into custody and after getting bail he could not find a job for himself.
Later it was learnt that the allegations were false and it was just a case of
overtaking the woman's scooty. The woman later went to Canada and never
appeared for any court hearing. Only in 2019, all the charges were dismissed
and Singh was held innocent. He was acquitted of all the charges against him.
But his life was a hell for 4 years. WASTED !
Laws in India are women centric and personally,
I feel that's how it should be. But the POSH guidelines of firing the employee
and seeing women as victims by default is absolutely not done.
Why does only man get the bad name?
Why does everyone start seeing men as predators
by default?
Why? What is the solution? Time to relook
at POSH guidelines?
Lastly, I want to say thanks to such Media for highlighting such cases.
#POSH - PREVENTION OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY AT
WORKPLACE
हमारे देश का कानून महिला प्रधान है, कोर्ट में पुलिस स्टेशन में हर जगह उनको ही वरीयता मिलती है। हम चाह तो भी कुछ नहीं कर सकते हैं।
